Nintendo has just released a new wave of Super Mario freebies for Switch and Switch 2 players.
With Nintendo’s focus for March and April being very Mario-heavy, many new releases and free downloads have come about in the last few weeks celebrating the series.
First there was the Switch 2 version of Super Mario Bros. Wonder at the end of March, then the release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie last week.
Now, Nintendo has unleashed a fresh batch of icons centred around various Super Mario characters and themes, available to grab on Switch or Switch 2 consoles.

The new wave of icons includes icons from games like Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Super Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Super Mario Odyssey.
It features a load of different characters from the franchise, including Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, and of course the madlad himself, Mario. Many different frames and backgrounds are also available as part of this new free release.
Have a look at the icons on offer below, and see if any of your favourites have made the cut.
If you want to redeem and use these icons for yourself, boot up your Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 console and head to the Nintendo Switch Online app on the home screen.
From here, find Missions & Rewards which is where you’ll see the new icons available for you to pick up.
The icons themselves cost 10 Platinum Points each, whereas frames and backgrounds can be grabbed for five points each. You can get new points by performing various activities on your Nintendo Switch console, with many tasks particularly tied to the online functionality.
Altogether, it’s a fun start to the week as The Super Mario Galaxy Movie enters its second week in theatres across the globe.
While the film itself received mixed reviews, it seems that moviegoers have taken kindly to it. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie earned $372.5 million globally in its opening weekend, scoring the biggest opening of the year for a Hollywood movie.
