Nintendo is blessing gamers once again with some adorable Pokémon Legends: Z-A freebies, available now.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A is still going strong. While I've finished both the game and its DLC, I do keep finding myself jumping back in to complete my Pokédex, and I’m even considering my very first shiny hunt playthrough…
While these new Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 freebies aren’t as shiny as some of the alternate design Pokémon, they are just as delightful. Most importantly, they're available for free now!
What Are the Free February Pokemon Goodies?
This February, you'll be able to pick up brand-new Nintendo Switch Online icons, including some of our favourite Mega Evolutions. It's free and you gotta catch em all!
The NSO icons consist of a few different things. You’ve got some new backgrounds, and then you’ve got icons for some of the characters you meet in Lumiose City.

There’s the sort-of antagonist Lysandre, fan-favourite trainer Emma and my personal favourite Legends: Z-A character Gwynn, not just because she shares a name with a Dark Souls boss.
The real standouts of this new icon selection though are the Pokemon themselves. There’s not a huge range this time, but with so many ‘mon it’ll be hard to catch-em-all this time around.
The offering includes Mega Meganium, Mega Victreebel, Mega Malamar (my beloved), Mega Baxcalibur and finally Mega Zeraora.

You’ll obtain these through Nintendo Platinum Points, which are earned naturally through gameplay or completing certain challenges, hence why you could consider these free.
I’d always recommended saving your points though as they can be exchanged for real-world goods on the official Nintendo Store.
This limited offering will be available for a couple of weeks as normal until a new batch is presented, perhaps more Pokémon-related icons as there are still so many left to release.
Pokémon Day February 2025
Following the success of Pokémon Legends: Z-A we’re now waiting for the next major announcement from the Pokémon Company.
While no official Pokémon Presents broadcast has been scheduled one is expected this month to tie-in with Pokémon Day.
With this broadcast we can expect some updates on merchandise as, perhaps for add-ons for Pokemon Legends: Z-A and hopefully a tease for what's coming next.
We’ve seen the leaks so hopefully the next presentation confirms Pokemon Winds & Waves.
Personally I’m hoping the classic games finally get their Nintendo Switch/Nintendo Switch 2 port, whether it be through a physical collection or their addition to Nintendo Switch Online.
