Nintendo has just dropped a new set of free Pokémon downloads for Switch and Switch 2 users.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A launched last October, and has been fairly popular among fans of the series.
The game has been a great way to tide us over until we get an official look at Gen 10, which could come as early as Pokémon Day on 27 February.
In the meantime, Nintendo has dropped a new set of Pokémon Legends: Z-A icons for Switch and Switch 2 players.
New Pokémon Legends: Z-A Freebies Are Worth Grabbing
As spotted by NSO Icon Alerts, a new wave of icons and backgrounds based around the game has just dropped on the service. In total, there are 11 new icons to grab as part of this wave, as well as four backgrounds.

This selection of free icons will be available for the week for any active subscribers of Nintendo Switch Online.
If you’d like to claim these icons and add them to your account, boot up your Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 and head to the Nintendo Switch Online app, which can be found on the home screen.

From here, find the Missions & Rewards tab, where you’ll see all the icons available to claim for the limited time.
Each one can be claimed for a certain amount of Platinum Points, so you’ll need the right amount of points in order to grab them, which can be earned by playing games on Nintendo Switch Online, or doing various tasks.
In total, you’ll need 130 Platinum Points to grab every item in this new wave of icons, which shouldn’t be too time consuming.

Once they’ve been claimed, you’re free to add them to your Nintendo Switch Online account avatar and customise them in any way you see fit.
“Anyone needs me, I'll be changing over my icon to Mega Lucario Z,” writes one user on X (formerly Twitter).
“God I hate this Icon fomo. These better return sometime,” writes another fan.
In our review of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, our Sam wrote that it was “a fantastic Pokémon game” but “the Pokémon series continues to be held back by the same old problems”.
As for what's next in Pokémon, rumour has it that Generation 10 will be revealed on Pokémon Day later this month, which will give us our first look at the next major game in the series.
