Personalising your Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 has never been easier as Nintendo is back yet again with a new batch of customisation options for your favourite handheld.
Being able to customise our virtual profiles has been a key part of gaming for millenia whether that is adding dynamic backgrounds to your PlayStation 5 or vamping out your Steam profile with badges and stickers galore.
The Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 may not have too much customisation compared to its larger console competition but over recent years, Nintendo has definitely been trying to rectify this.
Courtesy of NSO Icon Alerts over on Twitter, we can regularly get a glimpse at some of the free offerings Nintendo has been releasing, allowing players to showcase their favourite games on their profile.

This week is no exception as both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 users can now get their hands on a batch of free icons, frames, and backgrounds dedicated to all-things Super Mario.
Available until 8 December for Nintendo Switch Online members, users can grab a whopping 40 icons, 20 backgrounds, and 20 frames.
The backgrounds and frames are pretty self-explanatory, giving you the options to border your chosen profile images as well as offering backgrounds showcasing some of Super Mario’s most iconic tracks and locations.
However, it is the icons that most users flock to as it will give you the opportunity to decorate your Nintendo Switch profile with some of your favourite Super Mario characters.
This includes Mario himself, Luigi, Toad, Goombas, Nabbit, Princess Peach, and more.
Each icon is worth 10 Platinum coins but fear not, the virtual currency is virtually impossible not to hoard just by playing and purchasing games on the Nintendo handhelds.
With the frames and backgrounds being just 5 Platinum coins, it will be easy to grab your favourites and decorate to your heart’s content.
To access the freebies, you will have to be a Nintendo Switch Online member but once subscribed, you can head over to your profile and head to the ‘Rewards’ tab where you will find all of the current icons, frames, and backgrounds that are available.
The Super Mario collection is available until 8 December and then another batch of freebies, inspired by another hit Nintendo game, will be rolled out.
So make sure to check regularly if you do not want to miss out on what Nintendo has in store over the Christmas period; we're sure there will be some festive goodies.
