You can download and play five free games this weekend on the PC platform, Steam.
As great as the PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass subscription services are, they still cost money, despite the value. What’s more, as handy as demos and trials are, they only offer a snippet of a full game.
Thankfully, platforms such as the Steam store on PC have tons of free games that we can download and play today.
Sure, many of those free Steam games are low-budget and you may not have heard of them, but if you’re lucky, you might uncover a hidden indie gem.

With that in mind, as brought to our attention by the Twitter account ‘Free Steam Games’, here are five games that will help keep you busy this weekend:
- Atollo: “Set sail across a shifting sea in this colourful pixel-art adventure. Battle enemy ships, meet goofy islanders, collect magical eggs and awaken the kraken. A compact, handcrafted, free-to-play game.”
- Gotchi Guardians - Tower Defense: “Adapt, strategise, and dominate your rivals in this multiplayer roguelite tower defence brawler. Upgrade towers, wield powerful items, and outlast the madness to become the last Guardian standing!”
- Shades of Rayna: “You play as Princess Enya of Kingdom Rayna. On her ninth birthday, she received a magnificent bow as a birthday gift, but that gift changed everything in The Kingdom.”
- Sign Off: “Is a first-person shooter where signs chase you. Each MOB has a loot tree and drops items and ammo with variable probability. Vending machines offer structures that can be placed to defend your location, but turn off the generator when overpowered.”
- The Adventures of Candle Boy: “Missing the golden era of action platformers? Candle Boy is here to ignite your nostalgia with a fiery punch! Dive into this action-packed adventure from an indie studio that delivers classic thrills with a modern twist.”
So, there you have it, hopefully you’ll find some enjoyment with at least one of the free indie games above.
