Assassin's Creed Odyssey Omeros is a stunning free remaster

Assassin's Creed Odyssey Omeros is a stunning free remaster

This Assassin's Creed Odyssey remaster mod puts a unique spin on the game's visuals.

After last year’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage took the franchise back to its stealth-based roots, the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Codename Red will mark a return to the RPG genre.

This highly anticipated instalment will take players to Feudal Japan, with the story centring around a female shinobi and male samurai - with the samurai possibly based on the real life figure of Yasuke.

Ubisoft last held a Ubisoft Forward during 2023’s Summer Game Fest so it stands to reason that we could see a similar event held this year, unveiling Codename Red in full.

In the meantime, you may find yourself itching to revisit an old classic. One of my personal favourite entries on the RPG side of the franchise is Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and whilst diving into Odyssey is always a delight, this incredible mod could be just the thing to give the game a new lease of life for you PC players.

Take a look at the teaser trailer for Assassin’s Creed Codename Red below.

It’s the ‘Omeros - ReShade Series’ mod created by NexusMods user Delicious Vegetable and uploaded by napoleonofthestump that I want to highlight today.

This mod has been around a while so you may have already sampled it but if you haven’t, it’s a great and easy way of adding some renewed visual interest to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

“A series of photo-unrealistic ReShade presets featuring a variety of colours, moods, contrasts and tones for your screen-shooting enjoyment,” reads the synopsis.

This isn’t your standard ‘remaster’ mod, although those are worth playing around with too. Instead, this ReShade present pack acts like a series of Instagram filters, allowing you to set the mood of your playthrough, altering the feel of the experience and making for some incredibly cool photo shots.

“Most [presets] seem to be either attempts to replicate realistic lighting conditions, simple colour tuning, or imitations of the stylistically striking but otherwise execrable movie/comic 300. These are a bit different,” the creator continues.

“Six presets, each with a unique colour grade and extra effects ranging from the subtle to the pronounced, that alter the look of the base game considerably. Some look better than others in certain situations, but all can be used throughout the game without loss of visibility.”

The six included styles are Ithaka, Kirke, Menelaos, Nostoi, Kalypso, and Phaiakian.

The mod is completely free to download and enjoy, and you can grab it from NexusMods now.
