Nintendo is reportedly issuing refunds for a new RPG it recently released on the Switch 2, which was launched with some issues.

The controversial title in question is Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, which was originally released for Wii U in 2015 and came to Nintendo Switch ten years later.

Last week, a Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade was released for the game, but players were met with issues which prevented it from being the type of upgrade they expected.

Similar to other Nintendo Switch 2 upgrades like those available for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, this new update for Xenoblade Chronicles X includes 4K and 60fps performance while playing in docked mode, and 1080p and 60fps while in handheld mode.

Xenoblade Chronicles X Has A Load Of Visual Bugs On Nintendo Switch 2

Well, that’s what it’s supposed to do, anyway. However, some players have complained about the release, claiming that visuals don’t look as good as they did on the original Nintendo Switch.

Several threads on Reddit have been created discussing and showing the graphics in the Switch 2 version, showing blurry visuals and lots of upscaling artifacts in certain details.

Following this revelation, it appears that Nintendo is offering refunds for affected players who bought the Switch 2 upgrade, which currently costs £4.19 in the United Kingdom.

As one user shared on the Xenoblade Chronicles Reddit page, they were able to receive a refund for the upgrade path by pointing out the flaws in graphics to a support agent.

“I just asked mine saying that the image quality of the upgraded version is worse than the original game (which is true),” they wrote.

“They said that they normaly don't refund digital games but can do in this case after analysing the problem. (which they did in something like one and a half minute).”

It appears that Nintendo must have been already aware of the graphical issues, as it was able to issue a refund rather quickly rather than taking time to investigate the issue.

The user continues to write that “this isn't the Nintendo quality I expected and received until now so I'll not pay for something that delivers less quality than a free patch.”

Other users in the comments have encouraged more people to ask for refunds, saying that this will send a message to Nintendo to work on a fix and ensure it doesn’t happen with future Switch 2 upgrades.
