There will always be an army of Bloodborne fans convinced that a sequel will one day arrive as they empty the last canister of copium.
The realists among us have accepted that that day is unlikely ever to come, and it’s actually very likely Bloodborne may not even receive a new-gen patch.
After all, if PlayStation and FromSoftware wanted to do such a thing, wouldn’t they have done it already?
There is, however, somewhat of a spiritual successor to Bloodborne on the way from FromSoftware in the form of The Duskbloods.
The Duskbloods shares a strong aesthetic similarity with Bloodborne to the point where when it was revealed, many believed it to be a trailer for ‘Bloodborne 2’.

This dark fantasy action RPG sees players step into the shoes of a vampire-like character known as a Bloodsworn.
Once a Bloodsworn has been awakened, they’ll need to fend off fellow inhabitants of this forsaken world who are also vying for power.
“The moontears will flow for one and one alone,” the game’s original trailer mysteriously teased.
We don’t know the exact name of the game’s city but it boasts gothic architecture, much like Bloodborne’s Yharnam.
Where The Duskbloods differs is that it introduces PvPvE action with players able to go head to head.
With no in-depth gameplay reveal yet available, it awaits to be seen what this looks like in practice.
Hopefully, the gameplay looks better than it sounds as the multiplayer focus immediately dulled hype following The Duskbloods’ reveal trailer.

That trailer teased the game as coming in 2026 but many had begun to assume a delay might’ve taken place behind the scenes.
After all, it’s May and we’ve not yet, as I said, seen gameplay for The Duskbloods, so an imminent release date didn’t feel all that likely.
However, the game’s launch window has been locked in by FromSoftware’s parenty company Kadokawa.
In the company’s latest financial report, as shared by GameRant, both The Duskbloods and Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition are listed as 2026 releases.
The Duskbloods is, uniquely, set to be a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive.
In recent years, FromSoft has opted for cross-platform releases but it’s no stranger to exclusive partnerships.
Bloodborne, for example, was a PlayStation exclusive. The Duskbloods is the first Nintendo exclusive since 2003’s Lost Kingdoms II.
With The Duskbloods locked in for this year, it’s likely to appear in Nintendo’s next Nintendo Direct showcase where the company will outline its offerings for the latter half of 2026.
That could include a release date for Star Fox and perhaps even confirmation on whether that leaked Ocarina of Time remake is real or not.
