Today is, I imagine, going to be difficult for Bloodborne fans.
Later on, PlayStation will hold its latest State of Play event - something during which Bloodborne players will likely consume copium by the canister full.
Despite being amongst the most beloved of FromSoft’s games, Bloodborne has weirdly been left to rot over the years.
It never received a sequel, nor is it yet to get a native PlayStation 5 upgrade.

That latter part baffles me. I’m no game dev, but it can’t be too much of an undertaking to allow for a 60fps option.
I can’t imagine we’ll see anything arise tonight but as Sony once trolled, “It’s about persistence.” Keep holding onto hope, my friends.
What we do know is that Bloodborne is getting somewhat of a spiritual successor from FromSoft in The Duskbloods.
Weirdly, The Duskbloods is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, but it has reaffirmed that it’ll be launching this year.
But Will The Duskbloods Truly Scratch The Bloodborne Itch?
The Duskbloods visually looks very much like Bloodborne. In fact, when the game was first announced last year, it broke the internet as people truly thought Bloodborne 2 had emerged.
This is somewhat of the next best thing, although The Duskbloods’ gameplay is fairly different.

In what’s perhaps a pretty controversial move for FromSoft, The Duskbloods is an action RPG with “PvPvE [...] online multiplayer at its core”.

That might turn you off, but we’ve seen very little of The Duskbloods outside of that original trailer which most definitely had everybody on side at that point in time.
The game’s trailer teased a 2026 release date and, yes, we’re only a short way into the year, but it’s odd that we’ve heard nothing since.
Thankfully, we do now know that The Duskbloods is still on the way, as is Elden Ring’s delayed Tarnished Edition.
As reported by The Gamer, the Kadokawa Group - which owns FromSoft - has reiterated in its latest financial report that both are on track to land in 2026.
We’re definitely not going to see The Duskbloods tonight given that it’s not a cross-platform release.
I suppose Elden Ring could surface as third-party games are due to appear, but I just can’t see it myself.
It’s strange that neither appeared during Nintendo’s recent Direct event which focused exclusively on third-party games.
The fact that The Duskbloods didn’t appear makes me think we could be looking at a release date in the middle or at the end of the year.
