Red Dead Redemption 2 players can now pick up a free mod which makes the game more realistic, if you even believe there’s such a thing.
The reason I say this is that most Red Dead Redemption 2 fans already claim the game is as realistic as games will possibly get, simulating many aspects of the world that other games simply haven’t touched on yet.
From elements of the game like natural movement animations to simulating an entire food chain of wildlife, Red Dead Redemption 2 is simply a treasure trove for hidden world details.
However, one Red Dead Redemption 2 modder has decided to take things one step further by adding a realistic economy system to the game, which it apparently had lacked before.
1899 Economy Overhaul by Dev614 adjusts the prices of all in-game items to reflect the actual cost of things as they would have been in the late 19th century.

It also changes how much money you’re rewarded as part of missions, as well as the amount you can loot from the world and characters that you rob.
The main list of affected items includes food, general goods, clothing, weapons, and ammunition.

While it shouldn’t affect general gameplay that much, considering it also affects money you earn, it does mean the game is a little more authentic to its historical context compared to the vanilla version.
Other things you need to pay for in Red Dead Redemption 2, such as weapon customization, horse breeds, horse tack, hunting goods, and valuables are also counted among the variables which are changed with the mod.
Dev614 also recommends that you use a few other mods alongside their economy overhaul. For starters, Real Gun Names is one which tweaks the name of weapons to their exact real-life counterparts, for extra immersion.
Other mods they recommend include a loot economy overhaul which sidles nicely alongside this mod, which makes loot a little less harder to come by, particularly anything that you can use to get rich quick in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Some combat overhauls are also recommended to use as well, I guess to make it more rewarding alongside the adjustments to the in-game economy.
You can check out those mods, along with the 1899 Economy Overhaul mod, by going to the Red Dead Redemption 2 Nexus Mods page.
