Today's Nintendo Direct has dropped a brand-new trailer for the epic prequel to The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, and it's bringing all the action we wanted to see.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment will chart the story behind how Ganon was originally captured by Zelda and the Six Sages, in a chaotic war featuring hundreds of enemies on the screen at one, filling out the history of The Legend of Zelda.

Announced earlier this year, little is known about the full story, but this new glimpse gives a chance to start speculating and putting together clues.

Of course, the visuals are as gorgeous as they've always been, and will be wonderfully vibrant on Nintendo Switch 2.

Also releasing on the original Nintendo Switch, this is a partnership with Koei Entertainment, coming from their Warriors franchise which provides non-stop action, impactful battles, and frenetic moments.

The narrative here follows Princess Zelda as she is warped back in time by a Secret Stone, taking her to the founding of Hyrule, a crucial time in the creation of the franchise.

It's here she finds legendary characters facing off against the long-time antagonist, Ganondorf, assisting King Rauru and Queen Sonia in overcoming the threat.

There's still no firm release date for the game, but Nintendo will begin telling us more as the months move on, with it being the first taste of a new Zelda game on the brand-new Nintendo Switch.

Prepare yourself for this epic battle by playing the Nintendo Switch 2 upgrades for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, you can also dip into the first of the Hyrule Warrirors games, too.

Though, this iteration of the series will also provide a perfect jumping on point for any players new to the Zelda franchise, laying out the history and the future of Link and Zelda.
