The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time confirms launch date in stunning gameplay trailer

Finally, Nintendo has dropped a stunning new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, while also confirming its release date, and the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 game is going head-to-head with GTA VI.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is widely regarded as one of the greatest Nintendo games ever made, and its legendary status is reflected by its mighty 99 Metacritic score. Now, more than two decades after its original release, the iconic Nintendo 64 adventure is being rebuilt from the ground up for a new generation.

Originally released on the N64 in 1998, Ocarina of Time has since made its way to Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch Online. However, the upcoming Ocarina of Time remake marks the first time Nintendo has completely rebuilt the classic as a full-scale remake, giving fans plenty of reason to be excited.

Yes, that’s right; the long-awaited Ocarina of Time remake release date trailer has finally dropped, revealing that the Nintendo Switch 2 game will arrive much sooner than you might think. In fact, it’s seemingly going head-to-head with GTA VI; the Rockstar Games title will be released on November 19, 2026.

As for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, it will officially launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026.

The stunning new gameplay footage shows Link exploring Kokiri Forest, while also highlighting several modern quality-of-life improvements. These include a free-moving camera and the ability to manually jump, two features that weren’t available in the original 1998 release.

Link also chats with his childhood friend Saria and visits the Kokiri Forest Shop before heading inside the Great Deku Tree.

Inside the Great Deku Tree, we get our first proper look at the remake’s take on Ocarina of Time’s opening dungeon. Accompanied by his fairy companion Navi, Link demonstrates his combat abilities against a Deku Baba before opening a treasure chest containing his trusty Fairy Slingshot.

And yes, we even get that iconic chest-opening jingle. Oh, the nostalgia.

The gameplay then moves to Hyrule Field, where Death Mountain can be seen looming in the distance. We also get a glimpse of Hyrule Castle and the bustling Hyrule Castle Town before Link pulls out his Ocarina and encounters his beloved horse, Epona.

Another major improvement is that characters will now be fully voiced during cutscenes, bringing the classic adventure to life in a way the original Nintendo 64 game never could. The remake also appears to introduce new songs for the Ocarina, with Link able to remember the melodies he learns throughout his adventure.
