It may have been teased earlier this year but now it has finally been revealed that the Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is finally making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2.
Not only that but its demo is now free to play.
With the news arriving alongside a brand-new trailer (although the cutscene will be familiar to the original fans), new fans may be wondering what Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade even is.
Well, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade refers to the enhanced PlayStation 5 version of the Final Fantasy VII Remake, offering the base game with next-gen upgrades, and new story content called FF7R EPISODE INTERmission.

All of this bundled together, including enhanced graphics and 60fps performance, brings us Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade which is what is now available on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Final Fantasy VII Remake was first launched back in 2020 as a remake of, you guessed it, Final Fantasy VII which was originally released on the PlayStation way back in 1997.
The remake received generally favourable reviews and became one of the fastest-selling PlayStation 4 games of all time so it is perhaps no surprise that it has received another remake since, with the most recent launching on the Nintendo Switch 2.

As mentioned, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade’s arrival on the Nintendo Switch 2 also comes alongside a free demo which will take players through the opening of the Mako Reactor 1 bombing mission.
Luckily, any saved data will carry over to the game’s full launch and so you will not have to worry about having to start again when the time comes.
Additionally, playing the demo has some other benefits as players can receive bonus items: the Revival Earrings and Survival Set which will be gifted in the full game.
So When Does the Full Game Launch?
Well, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade launches on the Nintendo Switch on 22 January 2026 so there are just a few weeks until you can finally experience the hit title on the go.
If you are put off by it running at 30fps, don’t be as many early players have reported that it is not an issue at all and is even considered one of the Switch 2’s best-looking games.
So if you missed out on Final Fantasy VII back in 1997 or you just want another excuse to play the remake, make sure you check out the free demo ahead of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade’s launch in January.
