Elden Ring follow-up teased, sounds bigger and better than we ever dreamed

We're ready (but probably not)

If you’ve been labouring under the belief that FromSoftware can’t possibly top Elden Ring’s size and scope, you’re wrong. So wrong.

The new Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is mere days away, yet we’re already looking to the future to try and figure out what else Hidetaka Miyazaki has in store for us.

Shadow of the Erdtree will be here soon – will you be able to handle it?

Assuming we all survive the epic bosses that'll stand in our way, Miyazaki has teased that the best is yet to come.

In an interview with PC Gamer, FromSoftware’s president said, “I'm still in the process of making my ideal fantasy RPG. And while Elden Ring is not quite it, it's pretty close. It's getting close.”

When probed on what the “ideal” looks like, Miyazaki was guarded so as not to potentially spoil the surprise.

“It's hard to say without giving spoilers for my next idea or our next games,” He started, “But I think one thing that's not necessarily missing, but makes it difficult to achieve my ideal, is that when I play it, I know everything's going to happen.”

“So, in terms of enjoying the game from a player's perspective, I'd love to not know that, and for somebody else to make my ideal fantasy game, please, if possible. Then I can enjoy it just as a player,” he concluded.

We’re both terrified and excited by this news.

As one Twitter fan joked, “He [Miyazaki] won't be happy until the game is so hard people jump off a bridge.”

Now, hear us out, the ideal RPG is obvious: Bloodborne 2. After all the clowning we’ve endured, it feels like now is the time to correct all the mockery and give fans what they demand.

It’s highly unlikely, I know. Either way, though, the follow-up to Elden Ring is going to be one heck of a game!
