Assassin's Creed Black Flag hailed as the definitive AC game

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag is rightfully declared the definitive Assassin’s Creed game.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag is rightfully declared the definitive Assassin’s Creed game.

Ubisoft’s flagship Assassin’s Creed series has given fans some truly remarkable gaming experiences over the years, and shows no signs of slowing down, as the next game in the series, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, is just days away from releasing.

That being said, something heavily debated online is which Assassin’s Creed game is the best, and while there’s steep competition from all sides, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag deserves the title.

This was declared when Reddit user CarlLight admitted that they’d never played an Assassin’s Creed game before, and didn’t know which one to play first for the definitive experience, after all, there are plenty to choose from and most of them follow their own stories rather than one cohesive one.

They asked: “If I were to play only one AC in my whole life, which one should it be? … Every ranking list is much different, with Odyssey, AC2 and Black Flag seemingly standing out overall … Which AC will I enjoy most?”

Answers varied as they often do, but Assassin’s Creed Black Flag emerged as the favourite for a lot of people, especially those who don’t believe the Ezio titles have aged well, namely Assassin’s Creed II.

“My favorites, the two games I can go back and replay many times, are Black Flag and Origins.”

“I’d recommend Black Flag. You don’t really need any lore firsthand to play the game, if you play Black Flag first, you essentially have zero experience with the assassins, just like Edward did. Slowly you would learn more and more about the assassins. And plus, who wouldn’t be a Jack Sparrow”

“Personally, Black Flag was my favorite of all the ACs when it comes to action, gameplay, dynamism, story, etc. Phenomenal game and I came away feeling incredibly invested in the characters. Beautiful graphics and soundtrack too.”

As a biased Black Flag enjoyer I’m inclined to agree, and with a remake reportedly in development, it might soon be time for fans to set sail once again.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag can currently be played on PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo platforms.
