We’re officially less than a week away from Obi-Wan Kenobi’s series premiere on Disney+ and I can barely contain my excitement. A whopping 17 years after he first brought Obi-Wan to life, Ewan McGregor is finally set to return to our screens in the iconic role.
For weeks now, the series has been teasing us. McGregor himself suggested that Obi-Wan Kenobi could tie in with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, whilst Emperor Palpatine actor Ian McDiarmid has also teased his return. In a new - and unexpected - tidbit of information, Obi-Wan Kenobi’s director likened the series to DC’s Joker film … huh?
Did you know that there are loads of easter eggs dotted throughout LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga? Take a look at some of our favourites below.
Thankfully no, that doesn’t mean that Obi-Wan Kenobi is going to go on a reckless killing spree. Speaking to Total Film, director Deborah Chow opened up about how Obi-Wan Kenobi is very much a character centric series.

She said, “I think I was the most excited about getting the opportunity to do a character-driven story, in a similar way – it's a different tone – but something like Joker or Logan, where you take one character out of a big franchise and then you really have the time and you go a lot deeper with the character. That to me seemed really exciting to get to do in Star Wars."
McGregor had previously opened up about how his feelings for the character and franchise had changed over the years. He said, “What we didn’t hear at the time was people your age, your generation. Those people now really love our films, but it’s taken us 15 years to hear that. It’s really nice, it’s changed my relationship with Star Wars. It’s different because of that I think. We really put our heart and soul into them, and they were difficult to make.”
You’ll be stuck for choice on 27 May with both Obi-Wan Kenobi and Stranger Things dropping. I say bring it on.
