Multiple MCU projects, including Daredevil: Born Again have been shut down amidst writer strikes.

Multiple MCU projects, including Daredevil: Born Again have been temporarily shut down amidst writer strikes.

As reported by Deadline, production of the highly anticipated reboot of the 2015 Netflix series, now a Disney+ production, has halted during the WGA (Writers Guild of America) strike.

“WGA members on strike set up a sunrise picket at Silvercup East, where they’re supposed to be filming Daredevil, but members of the Teamster Local 817 and IATSE Locals 829 and 52 are refusing to cross the picket line,” read a tweet posted on Monday from the WGA.

However, according to writer and WGA captain, Warren Leight, production for Daredevil: Born Again resumed the following day.

“Looks like we’re done for the day at Silvercup East as Daredevil has called their day in response to a #WGASTRONG picket with line help from @SAGAFTRA and #Local802,” tweeted Leight.

Why is the Writers Guild of America strike happening? It is reported that a dispute between the WGA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), is ongoing due to a residual cut from writers' incomes. What’s more, with the rise of artificial intelligence in the industry, the WGA demands that this software is only used to aid scripts and not a tool to replace writers.

Along with Daredevil: Born Again which is expected to arrive on Disney+ in 2024, other MCU productions impacted by the strikes include Captain America: New World Order, Deadpool 3, Fantastic Four, as well as the Blade reboot. Outside of the MCU, the likes of Stranger Things (season five), Andor (season two), The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (season two), Superman Legacy and more have been halted.

Hopefully, the strikes of the WGA will end soon and writers will get paid at least somewhere close to what they believe is their value.
