One of the coolest things about the Fallout franchise is the immensely deep lore, which has steadily built up over the course of three decades to a point where it's arguably one of the most impressive worlds in all of video games.
Everyone will have their own favourite individual stories, but we can all agree that regular fixtures like the vaults, super mutants and locations like New Vegas appeal almost universally to anyone who has ever played one of the games.
My own personal favourite remains Fallout 3, the game which took us to the capital Wasteland for the first time and which served as my entry point into the series, having missed the first two games on PC.
It's one of the bleakest games in the series, and it's filled with interesting parts of the story and overall narrative of Fallout, but there's always room for improvement.

Now, a new mod has just released that deepens that lore considerably, giving players plenty of new things to do in the near 20-year-old game.
Fallout Legends Launches After 10 Years in Development

As first reported by DSOGaming, modder CYB3RP0NK has just released an enormous new mod for Fallout 3 entitled Fallout Legends.

Fallout Legends has been in development for over 10 years at this point and, according to the modder, it uses existing lore from all of the Fallout games to add lore-friendly content to Fallout 3, vastly altering the overall offering. This is exactly what I've always wanted as a fan!
That means that you'll be hearing more about major factions from the other games, including the Institute from Fallout 4 and the Chosen One from Fallout 2. It has a ton of quests that will let you explore these topics further, and it imports the soundtracks for all of the other games as well, so you can have a whole new set of tunes to listen to while you explore.
There have also been some tangible changes to the way stats work just to keep everything balanced, but you shouldn't notice too many differences in that regard while playing.
There's also plenty of more tangible content that has made its way over, including new armours and weapons, as well as the chance to encounter characters from the previous games, as well as ones you may see show up further down the timeline in Fallout 4 and Fallout: New Vegas.

The mod is available to download for free right now from Nexus Mods, so get out there and give it a go before the radiation kicks in.
