Hogwarts Legacy: The Key fan trailer called 'better than the original'

Fan-made Hogwarts Legacy trailer 'The Key' has fans hailing it as better than the original.

Hogwarts Legacy fans are desperate for news regarding the future of the franchise, which is surely on the way.

Back in May, it was announced that Hogwarts Legacy had surpassed a whopping $1 billion in revenue. That number will certainly have only grown since then - and we’ve still got the Nintendo Switch version to launch. Fans are growing increasingly concerned about whether it’s even still on the cards though, given the radio silence from Avalanche. The game failed to show up in the most recent Nintendo Direct - and we already know the game underwent vast simplifications to run on the Xbox One/PS4. Beyond that, of course, many are hoping for a sequel. While we’re in a news drought though, one fan has taken to making an epic Hogwarts Legacy trailer - with some hailing it as being better than the original.

The project is titled Hogwarts Legacy: The Key and is the work of YouTuber Rougeification. Essentially, the creator has used various cinematic and gameplay clips to create their own trailer for the game. The storyline remains the same but fans are saying that The Key has far more impact than Avalanche's original trailer. Take a look at the project in action below.

One fan wrote, “Better than the actual one,” while one comment read, “Underrated.” It just goes to show the incredible impact of direction. The way in which you present a clip determines the tone you set. While I’d say the original Hogwarts Legacy trailer leans into feelings of magic and wonder, I’d say The Key focuses on the tension and drama surrounding the main character’s power and Ranrok’s intentions. It’s the same game, but it comes across in two very different ways.

While we may not have any news of a DLC or sequel, PC players can expand the game via mods - and you may want to check out these awesome Spellmaster and Sword of Gryffindor creations.
