Hogwarts Legacy players have 'one big disappointment' two months on

Hogwarts Legacy players are in agreement that Treasure Vaults are one of the most disappointing aspects of the game.

There’s no denying the fact that Hogwarts Legacy was a major commercial success. I say ‘was’ but I’d imagine that the game will continue to be, with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launch scheduled for 5 May in just a few weeks time. Finally, Nintendo Switch owners will gain access on 25 July.

There’s been so much talk about Hogwarts Legacy that you could be forgiven for forgetting that a major chunk of gamers are yet to experience the title. In the two months since Hogwarts Legacy released, players have highlighted what improvements they’d like to see in a potential sequel. Fans want a playable version of Quidditch, a working companion system, missions that don’t take place in caves and ruins … I could go on. Now though, players have decided that the game’s biggest disappointment are the “dungeons”, known in-game as Treasure Vaults.

Someone modded PS1 Hagrid into Hogwarts Legacy. Take a look in the video below.

Reddit user lapinobel wrote, “One big disappointment to me are the ‘dungeons’, they are about 99% the same, just a small corridor leading down to a right/left/right with a treasure. I mean, look at dungeons in Skyrim which were each in itself a small game world to explore. Just an observation, great game for the most part (about 50hrs played on PS5).” It’s true. You simply walk down a passage, grab some gear, and leave.

User vrgnte said, “The treasure vaults are such a boring, repetitive grind,” while kyle429 added, “And after a while, most of the ‘treasure’ you get is too low of a level to care about anyway. I think that all loot should scale with your current player/gear levels.” D1scOLemOnade commented, “I agree, the dungeons are mostly pointless. My gripe is the amount of useless gear you get with such limited spots. Constantly selling or destroying.”

If you are early on in the game, treasure vaults are a great way to grab gear to sell as some of those early class assignments do require you to purchase some pretty pricey stuff. If you’re in the post-game section though, it’s true - it’s a pointless grind.
