Hogwarts Legacy: It’s impossible to respec your character's skills, insider claims

According to an insider, there doesn't seem to be a way to re-assign talent points in Hogwarts Legacy once they've been spent.

For those who’ve preordered the Deluxe or Collector’s Edition of Hogwarts Legacy on PC or a new-gen console, it’s just a week to go until release.

Hogwarts Legacy is a title that’s been shrouded in controversy - many have been calling for a boycott of the game due to its association with Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, who has previously been criticised for making harmful comments regarding the transgender community. Others are still waiting for its release with bated breath, although new information from a supposed insider might not go down too well with fans.

Hogwarts Legacy’s headmaster is being voiced by none other than Simon Pegg - meet his character below.

As PCGamesN reports, one user on Reddit - who goes by Taylor Liddell - claims to be a former QA tester for the game, and has been answering fans’ questions about the title ahead of its release. According to him, it doesn’t seem like it’ll be possible to alter what your character’s talent points are assigned to once you’ve spent them. In case you were unfamiliar, there are apparently 50 different talents spread across a total of five categories (basically, a skill tree), which you need to spend talent points in order to unlock (thanks, IGN). In Liddell’s words, “choose wisely.”

The phrasing of his response seems to imply that there’s some sort of cap to how many talent points players will be able to rack up in a single run of the game, although this hasn’t been announced by the devs. It’d make sense that wannabe witches and wizards will essentially have to choose a path to focus on, but it’d be nice to know if players have a way to adjust things if they make a mistake, or just want to try something new without making a completely new save file.

At the time of writing, the insider’s claims haven’t been officially confirmed, so take them with a pinch of salt.
