Steam is a storefront jam-packed to the rafters with free-to-play titles; some being far better than others.
If you’re a regular around these parts, you’ll know that we’re the first to fill you in on those new free-to-play additions.
And while, yes, admittedly, there are a few questionable games that are added, sifting through free-to-play titles can eventually reveal a gem, like Replicomica - a game a colleague brought to my attention today that I’ll be nabbing later.
From time to time though, another variety of freebie surfaces.

It’s always incredibly exciting when a paid game is made free for a limited time; then you really feel like you’ve nabbed a deal.
Well, I’m here to tell you that NEXT JUMP: Shmup Tactics fits that bill.
While it may usually only set you back a measly £3.39, NEXT JUMP: Shmup Tactics is currently free to download and keep forever on Steam.
That £3.39 you save could go towards tomorrow’s coffee. Look, every little helps.

The only ‘catch’ here, if you can call it one, is that the offer expires in 24 hours - correct at the time of publication.
Yes, NEXT JUMP: Shmup Tactics is only free until 6pm on 1 July so you better run if you want to secure it.
And if you do see this too late, well, this is still a bargain game well worth picking up.
Developed by Post Morten Pixels and published by GrabTheGames, NEXT JUMP: Shmup Tactics is an old-school inspired turn-based shoot em’ up.

“Do space-jumps on procedurally generated boards and chase the vicious Dragons who stole all the stock of Beverage from the Galaxy,” reads the synopsis.
Its more-ish gameplay has garnered the title a very respectable score of 9/10 from Steam users.
“An unexpectedly cool tactical game with an original presentation. The developers managed to mix elements of tactics and arcade shooter,” reads one review.
“Surprisingly fun concept, and great worldbuilding,” adds another.
