The wait until Hogwarts Legacy releases lessens with each passing day. Once upon a time, we thought that the game might've been out by now, but our wizarding journey is officially set to begin on 10 February, 2023 - and it’s a day that most of us have been dreaming about for quite some time. A Hogwarts acceptance letter didn’t turn up for you either? Welcome to the muggle club.
Hogwarts Legacy is set to be a darker take on the wizarding world which is no surprise if you’ve seen the very creepy trailer for the PlayStation-exclusive quest, ‘The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop’. The game will also include moral dilemmas for players, leading to multiple choice-based endings. Beware. You could be pulled in by the dark arts. In a recent gameplay showcase though, fans spotted a familiar friendly face.
Take a tour of the common rooms of Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw below. Which one is your favourite?
I say familiar face, it’s more of a familiar name in truth. Hogwarts Legacy is set in the 1800s so whilst we won’t see any familiar Harry Potter characters, we may see their ancestors. One character that’s been featured prominently in trailers so far is Hector Jenkins but as spotted by eagle-eyed fans, devs may be trying to throw us off with the surname Jenkins.

As reported by ComicBook, a recent behind-the-scenes showcase actually displayed Hector’s name as Hector Weasley in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment. This was spotted by Twitter user 3ugene_tm who wrote, “Hector Jenkins or Hector Weasley? We see Jenkins in the showcase but Weasley in XpectoGO's behind-the-scenes video.” Hm, interesting. Well Hector certainly looks like a Weasley. Take a look at the find below.
Fans previously speculated that a Professor Weasley may also appear in the game, whereas Hector is definitely a student. Devs did tease that we’d meet “a Weasley or two” so the Hector theory would fit with this. It wouldn’t be the first time that gaming promotional materials have lied and misled us. I’m looking at you The Last of Us Part II trailer.
