'Hogwarts Legacy' Confirms You Can Use Dark Magic And Go Full Evil Wizard

Last night's Hogwarts Legacy trailer confirmed that you'll be able to use the infamous Avada Kedavra curse on your enemies.

We finally got our first glimpse of actual gameplay footage for Hogwarts Legacy last night, and it genuinely looks like everything people have been hoping for and more. Exploring the vast open-world on a broomstick? You got it. Loads of different classes to attend? Yup, they’re there too. A plethora of magical beasts, just waiting to be befriended? Absolutely. It really seems like every base has been covered, and fans have been going understandably wild.

Although the footage shown was super in-depth, and went over a whole host of different gameplay elements, one part that gamers have been particularly excited about was teased very briefly right towards the end of the trailer. After the narrator warns us about being led “down a darker path”, we see the playable avatar character use the infamous Avada Kedavra killing curse on an unknown target, meaning that yes, it definitely seems like it’ll be possible to use dark magic and become an evil wizard.

Check out the full Hogwarts Legacy gameplay trailer below, and be sure to stick around to see the killing curse in action.

As for the plot of the game, it centres around foiling a goblin uprising, which will also see players take on a number of dark wizards in the process, so it’ll be interesting to see how taking an evil approach yourself here will affect this. Perhaps taking this “darker path” will mean it’ll be possible to team up with the enemy? There’s still a good while to go until release, so chances are, this will be elaborated on sometime soon.

Speaking of release, we still don’t have a confirmed date yet, but we do at least have a window. Hogwarts Legacy will be coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC in “Holiday 2022”, so most likely some time in November or December. So, still a while to go, but it’s well on its way - no doubt fans will be excited to see more of what it has to offer in the meantime.
