Hogwarts Legacy gets surprise update you can download now

If only they could magic us a DLC

Avalanche Software and Warner Bros. may have turned its attention to a Hogwarts Legacy sequel but a recent update shows that it has not abandoned the first title altogether just yet.

First released in 2023 amidst a wave of controversy, Hogwarts Legacy still managed to go on to become the best-selling game of the year but its journey since then has been less than smooth.

Despite Avalanche Software and Warner Bros. promising both an extended edition and DLC, those plans were later scrapped which is a shame considering that the main complaint from fans has been a lack of new content.

In good news, a Hogwarts Legacy sequel is still in development but it will be a few years until players are able to return to the magical castle which we follow over a century before the events of the Harry Potter series.

In the meantime, a surprise patch has been dropped for Hogwarts Legacy which will see PC players receive improved stability if they are using older, unsupported graphics cards.

More specifically, the patch notes detail that Hogwarts Legacy has “changed default display options to prevent Low Latency settings from being applied to older unsupported cards.”

The patch also comes alongside 11 other improvements such as adding new broom, costume, and gameplay mod templates, added ability to set custom loot in containers as to not rely on random spawning, and an update for the localisation text editor.

These are basic quality-of-life changes so it is a shame not to see anymore content being dropped in the form of new quests.

However, it seems as though console players are less than happy with this latest patch and took to Twitter to share their frustrations.

“Are you gonna give us console players something? Like quit leaving us out!” One user said.

Another agreed, adding, “It makes me laugh how a huge company like yours, which has sold so much THANKS TO THE CONSOLES, doesn't give us mods or performance updates.”

With the rest of the comments full of fans asking for the once-promised DLC, it seems as though this Hogwarts Legacy patch has gone down like a lead balloon once more.
