GTA inspired The Precinct places you on the opposite side of the law

Grand Theft Auto-inspired The Precinct places you on the opposite side of the law, and it's coming to PC and consoles.

The GTA franchise has always been about living the criminal life, but what if that coin was flipped and we lived life on the right side of the law?

Well, that’s exactly what fans will be getting with the gritty indie game The Precinct, developed by Fallen Tree Games - and it looks like it will be a lot of fun indeed.

Take a look at the announcement trailer for The Precinct below.

The Precinct is a neon-noir isometric game, very reminiscent of GTA titles of yesteryear, and sees you live the life of Officer Nick Cordell Jr who is a “rookie beat cop fresh out of the Academy, you’re on the front line of defence for Averno’s citizens,” reads the official description.

It continues: “Dive into a world of thrilling car chases, procedurally-generated crimes, and a healthy dose of 1980s noir as you protect the populace and solve the mystery of your father’s murder in the line of duty.” Players will be responding to crimes as they happen, and it will be your task to save the day in the dangerous city of Averno as you “patrol the streets and respond to callouts to fight criminals petty and powerful." If a situation gets too heated, you can call for backup in a gunfight or a high-speed car chase, which even includes helicopter assistance, issuing roadblocks, spike strips and much more.

At this time, The Precinct doesn't have a release date, but we do know that it will launch for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Hopefully, this game will live up to the potential seen in its announcement trailer and we’ll get a solid release date in the coming months.

In somewhat related news, despite not yet officially knowing when Grand Theft Auto 6 will arrive, an industry analyst has predicted that Rockstar Games' next big hit will make a whopping $1 billion during its first week of launch.
