GTA VI fans have a theory that the game will feature base or house customisation.

Although Grand Theft Auto VI is still about 11 months away, Rockstar Games has released two trailers and a boatload of screenshots for us to feast our eyes on.

Particularly since the release of the second trailer, which is believed to have more gameplay than was let on, fans have been digging in to find details about what the game will be like.

Now, GTA VI fans believe that the game will have full customisation for houses and bases in the story mode, judging from a possible detail in the latest trailer.

In the trailer, we see that Jason’s house is still partly under construction.

There are some clues that he hasn’t been living there for long, and that he’s in the process of fixing it up by the time Lucia gets there.

“Something some of you might not know is that back in SA, there was code found suggesting we were originally supposed to be able to buy furniture and customise property interiors, placing stuff wherever we wanted,” reads a post on the GTA VI Reddit page.

It seems pretty obvious that we’re gonna see interior changes at least in this house and, knowing Rockstar, I’m sure we’ll be involved in it somehow, whether we’re the ones actually doing it, choosing how it looks, or maybe even both.

One user chimed in with their take: “It will either be story related, where at certain points of the story we see a cutscene where Lucia interrupts Jason doing work and then the house changes or it will be like RDR2 camp upgrades, where we have to do a certain thing and we can 'buy' that upgrade.”

“I'll add up to your observation,” wrote another user. “Not only the wall, but the light bulb behind Jason is also different in the two images, suggesting that it might be customisable. We can also see that just on Jason's left is some wood construction plates indicating some kind of work in progress.”

We’ll wait and see just how Rockstar Games plans on adding house customisation, if it does, as the game gears up for release on 26 May, 2026.
