Those excited to finally witness some gameplay footage for Grand Theft Auto VI have been baffled to learn that we, somehow, have already seen some– we just had no idea what we were looking at wasn’t a cutscene.
Rockstar Games finally released the second trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI earlier this week, but many fans had the same question after they’d finished watching it: that was cool and all but, where the hell was the actual gameplay?
Well, it turns out we were already looking at it… and I still genuinely cannot discern the cutscenes from the gameplay, even after I’ve rewatched the trailer half a dozen times.

So, how do we know this for sure? Because Rockstar Games told us themselves, in a tweet posted last night.
“Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 2 was captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5, comprised of equal parts gameplay and cutscenes,” revealed the official Rockstar Games Twitter account.
Can you tell which is which?
The “equal parts” bit of that statement is actually making me lose my grip on reality. There is no way that trailer is actually 50/50 cutscenes/gameplay, right?

Over on the r/GTA6 subreddit, fans think they’ve figured out a couple of points in the trailer that look like gameplay.
“The part where Jason walks into the house is definitely a cutscene to gameplay transition,” commented user Bahamut1988.
“Him walking out the store with the six pack is probably gameplay as well, same with when he slaps the dude and opens the register,” replied user TheMustardTigerz.
Man, I was excited for GTA VI already, obviously, but this one statement actually just sent my hype levels through the stratosphere.

The fact that waffling about video games is my actual, full time job, and I can’t discern what parts of this are cutscenes is just… damn, Rockstar. Take as long as you need if you’re gonna cook this hard, sheesh.
