With Grand Theft Auto VI expected to be the biggest video game release of all time, it is no surprise that potential customers are concerned over its dreaded price tag.

There are just a few months to go until Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to launch but with the Rockstar title cementing itself as the most anticipated game of all time, fans are worried that this will influence its price tag.

In recent years, we have become used to spending around £60 on the latest AAA releases but with GTA VI set to break records when it comes to sales, it will be no surprise to see the next instalment in the Grand Theft Auto series become the most expensive video game of all time.

However, with Rockstar and Take-Two remaining tight-lipped about its price tag, we will have to wait and see how much we will be forking out.

That being said, some fans believe that the rumoured $100 price tag will not come to fruition for one very good reason.

“GTA VI won't be 100$ because online mode is the real deal,” one user shared over on r/GTA6 alongside a screenshot taken nine years ago.

The screenshot reveals that the current Grand Theft Auto Online has exceeded over $700 million a year thanks to Shark Cash Cards.

The in-game cards can be bought using real-life money and allow the player to have access to more virtual currency so, as you can imagine, Rockstar has earned quite a lot of revenue through this feature.

As a result, some fans believe that GTA VI will be sold at the standard price as Rockstar will again make its money via paywalled content.

User skollywag92 agreed, saying, “100%, they do this. Also, guarantee it will have a "battle pass" element where you'll pay 20 bucks a month for whatever perks.”

“Wouldn't surprise me if single player and Online are truly two separate products and you can get both for $100.

$70 for the single player, $40 for Online, $100 if you buy them together,” user poklane added.

It remains to be seen how Rockstar will price Grand Theft Auto VI but, thanks to its popularity, it is pretty clear that fans will be purchasing it regardless of its price tag later this year.
