GTA 6 price tag is leaving fans torn

Would you pay $100?

Grand Theft Auto VI is finally set to arrive on 26 May 2026, providing it isn’t subject to any further delays.

Rockstar Games announced as much earlier this year, dropping the game’s long-awaited second trailer several days later.

A trailer which, I’ll continue to stress, comprises half gameplay and half in-engine cinematics.

Fair to say, many of us mistook it completely for the latter when it first dropped.

Even still, it would be nice to see some unedited gameplay with GTA VI’s full UI, but I imagine that won’t land until much closer to launch.

The main thing we’re now lacking with regards to GTA VI is information on its pricing, pre-orders, and various versions.

As I’m sure you’re aware, analysts previously suggested that GTA VI could charge as much as $100.

At the time, that seemed laughable, but in the months since, both Xbox and Nintendo have begun charging $80 for new releases.

Does an extra $20 seem out of the question for what many are hailing as a once-in-a-generation release? Perhaps not.

Whether you agree with that hypothetical price or not, it’s hard to deny its plausibility.

For months now, fans have been letting their thoughts be known - and I don’t think that’ll change until we have a concrete number.

“Probably only game deserving of such a price,” wrote X/Twitter user GiannisLagoudes.

“I am buying the collector’s edition. It’s a once in a lifetime experience. You don’t get a GTA game every two to three years now and knowing Rockstar and what they’re capable of delivering, I would buy GTA VI for $100 (or more for the collector’s edition),” replied ShadePJ.

“Disagree. I’m not buying it unless it’s $60 or drops to that which is already outrageous,”added MarinoFourK.

“Should not cost that much at all, maybe $40 to $60 but $100 that’s when it’s called being greedy, taking advantage of people like us who are living paycheck still wanting to play a game at the end of the day to escape reality,” commented lifewithjacob66.

I hate to say it but I wouldn’t be surprised if pricing wasn’t confirmed until early 2026 so I doubt this debate will draw to a close anytime soon.

I suppose all fans can do is let their voices be heard and hope Take-Two and Rockstar take notice.
