Grand Theft Auto VI might make history for being the first game in the series to support mods on console.
While I don’t mod games myself, I love seeing what weird and wonderful creations gamers have cooked up online.
The stranger, the better in my opinion, so when you show me CJ from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas as captain of the Jackdaw in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, I’m all in.
Rockstar's games are no stranger to wild mods either. For instance, just last week I saw someone mod Homelander from The Boys into Red Dead Redemption 2.

When GTA VI drops on PC, it’ll be exciting to see what bizarre creations players generate, but for console players worried they’ll be missing out, there might be some good news for you.
The Next-Gen Xbox Holds The Answers
Some of you might be aware that the next-gen Xbox is rumoured to be a console and PC hybrid. While we don’t know much about it, the release date is said to be somewhere in 2027 which is also when the PC version of GTA VI is expected to drop.

Now this next Xbox will reportedly have its own Xbox Store but also compatibility with Steam and Epic Games, so when GTA VI does launch on PC, those who own one of these Xbox consoles will seemingly have the choice of which version they want to play, console or PC.

This basically means that you will be able to mod your game on an Xbox, unless Rockstar Games surprises us with mod support for all platforms.
Bethesda has seen success with this through Creation Club, allowing Xbox and PlayStation players to expand their playthroughs of Fallout 4, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Starfield with a curated list of mods.
Rockstar could probably do the same thing if it wanted to, though it’d, of course, need to be restricted to the game’s single-player.
It’s very unlikely though so your only hope of playing a modded version of the game in your living room depends on if the next-gen Xbox supports modding tools or not.
The Steam Deck can do it, as can the ROG Ally X, so I can’t imagine it’d be a problem for the next Xbox if it’s trying to be more like a PC.
