There's an awful lot riding on Grand Theft Auto VI. I think it's fair to say that it's probably the most anticipated video game of all time - and I can't even begin to imagine what that pressure is doing to the staff at Rockstar Games.

GTA V remains one of the most successful and widely played video games ever released. Meanwhile, Red Dead Redemption 2 managed to redefine just how massive and how thoroughly detailed an open world game can be. We're fast approaching the point that many expect GTA VI to be the second coming for video games.

Here's everything we know for sure about GTA VI so far!

While Rockstar hasn't confirmed much beyond the fact that the game is in development, Rockstar insider Chris Klippel has made some very bold claims about the upcoming title's graphics.

The long and short of it probably won't surprise you too much: GTA VI could very well end up being one of the most visually impressive video games ever made thanks to Rockstar's new-gen engine.

Take this with a hefty pinch of salt for now, but Klippel says that Rockstar is using ‘RAGE9’ - an enhanced version of the Rockstar's propriety engine. Again, this in itself isn't too surprising given that Rockstar has been using the RAGE engine on most of its biggest releases since 2006.

“I was able to get very positive feedback, we really shouldn’t be disappointed on this point,” Klippel claimed. “We are talking about an engine ahead of its time.”

While Klippel hasn't seen anything with his own eyes (more reason to be wary), he claims to have heard from sources who have seen it, and speaks of how impressed they are with what the engine can do.

“Apparently the goal is to outperform the Unreal Engine,” he added. “They are capable of it, we will see if they can do it.”

GTA VI is currently expected to release at some point between now and the last recorded syllable of time.
