Grand Theft Auto VI may feature one less playable character than Grand Theft Auto V, but the relationship between them feels like a character in itself.
Jason and Lucia are the faces of the next Grand Theft Auto game and take on roles akin to those of the real-life criminals Bonnie and Clyde.
We’ve seen plenty of them in trailers alone, and you can tell their relationship is quite strong, for now.
Rockstar Games is yet to drop any raw, unedited gameplay, but from what we’ve seen so far, GTA VI looks like an amalgamation of GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2.
It’ll presumably share a lot of the same gameplay mechanics, and it’s rumoured that Red Dead Redemption 2’s honour system will return as well, this time as a relationship meter.

Jason and Lucia’s relationship is likely to be tested throughout the course of the game, especially considering the popular fan theory that Lucia is an undercover cop.
Would-be players think their trials and tribulations will run deeper than that, however, believing your ‘interactions’ with other NPCs will change the way they perceive each other.
“Since Jason and Lucia will be a couple, do you think we’ll be punished for cheating or will it be more of an open type thing?” asked TXNOGG on the GTA VI subreddit and, obvious signs of gooning aside, it’s a great question.
In GTA V, Michael, Franklin, and Trevor could pay a visit to the local strip club or hire some late-night companionship with no major repercussions, but how is that going to change in GTA VI?
These ‘gooner-ish gameplay features’ have been a staple of the Grand Theft Auto series for years, so it’s unlikely they won’t be present in the new game, but will Jason hanging out at a strip club not drive a wedge between himself and Lucia? It usually would in real life, so why not in the game too?
This is where Red Dead Redemption 2’s honour system could come back into play. The extracurricular hijinks you get up to could affect how Jason and Lucia perceive each other, which could have a knock-on effect on missions.
It might even be tied to what sort of ending you get, with the strongest bond between the two unlocking the ‘true’ ending.
At the time of writing, though, all of this is just mere speculation. Rockstar Games recently began accepting pre-orders for GTA VI, and the pricing/content packages have rubbed gamers the wrong way, especially the lack of a disc in the box. That bit of controversy has been made worse by PlayStation announcing it won’t be supporting physical media from 2028 onwards.
Rockstar is yet to comment on the backlash and likely never will, but with GTA VI’s marketing ramping up for the game’s November 19 release date, we’re bound to see more of the game sooner rather than later.
