GTA 6 gameplay footage shown off in the strangest place

A Goat Simulator 3 advert was swiftly removed by Take-Two Interactive for containing leaked Grand Theft Auto 6 development footage.

A takedown notice has been issued against a Goat Simulator 3 advert by Take-Two Interactive after it was revealed that the ad contained footage from Grand Theft Auto VI. The GTA VI footage had previously leaked after Rockstar Games fell victim to a major cyber attack in September.

In case you’ve been living under a rock and have yet to hear about the cyber attack, over an hour’s worth of footage was stolen alongside screenshots and source code. A UK-based teenager was subsequently arrested although later pleaded “not guilty” in court. Fans unsurprisingly found it hard to ignore the footage and instead, used it to try and map out GTA VI. If what they’ve achieved is accurate, GTA VI looks like it’s going to be huge. Most of the footage was swiftly removed from the internet though, so you’ve got to wonder why Goat Simulator 3 thought they could get away with this ad.

Chances are you probably didn’t see the advert in question seeing as Take-Two wasted no time in getting it removed from the web. As reported by GamesRadar, the video was essentially a comedic interview with an NPC by the name of Shaun. If you’re familiar with Goat Sim, you’ll know that the franchise’s particular brand of humour is anything goes, so partway through the video, Shaun was superimposed onto some leaked GTA VI b-roll development footage.

Shortly after the interview hit the web, it was soon replaced by a note reading “This media has been disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner”. Surely, Coffee Stain North can’t be surprised by this response from Take-Two which makes you think, maybe that’s the point? Was this all an elaborate publicity stunt to gain our attention? It certainly worked.

We’re on the approach to Christmas so you’d imagine that Coffee Stain North are hoping that Goat Simulator 3 ends up in a fair few stockings. If you’re unsure whether it’s your cup of tea, we spoke to an expert in the area - a very excited 11-year-old. I’ll let you in on a secret, they were a fan. Take-Two though? Not so much.
