Fans excited for Rockstar Games’ upcoming megahit Grand Theft Auto VI have been debating exactly how long they hope the game’s story mode is, and nobody can seem to agree on an answer.
By now, I’m sure you’ve all heard the reports that Grand Theft Auto VI could cost upwards of $100 at launch, which is probably why players can’t stop discussing how long the game will take to complete.
The problem is, every comment in a thread over on the r/GTA6 subreddit titled “Is it realistic to expect 100+ hours for GTA VI?” is expecting something different.

“Not the main story, which I think will be around like 50 hours to finish, but for %100 completion I think it will take more than a hundred hours”, commented user RustinSpencerCohlee.
“60+ minimum all different first run length, at the least, if they want me to pay $60+, 100+ to 100% completion”, replied user AlexGlezS.
Personally, I’d be surprised if the story missions come in at anything under 40 hours but… really, does it matter that much?
As multiple other commenters in the thread stated, it’s a quality over quantity thing for me. But most importantly, is the story mode really many people’s favourite part of a Grand Theft Auto game?

That isn’t to say that the last two GTAs haven’t had incredible story modes, because they have, but rather that I think most people’s (myself included) enjoyment mainly comes from just messing around with the side content.
Like sure, I’m looking forward to seeing what’s up with the whole Bonnie and Clyde dynamic between the two main characters but… I’ll probably just play snooker for dozens of hours and launch my supercars off every ramp in existence before I even get around to finishing the story.
God help me if they add card games, I’ll never find out what happens at the end of the story if they do.
