Despite Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive not revealing the expected price tag for Grand Theft Auto VI, it has not stopped fans from speculating.
With Grand Theft Auto VI expected to be the biggest game launch of the past decade, it is not surprising that many fans are worried that this could see Rockstar and Take-Two put an extortionate price tag on it.
Not only that, but thanks to some companies such as Microsoft and Nintendo recently raising the price of its software, by the time that GTA VI is released on 26 May 2026, prices for the latest AAA releases could have skyrocketed even more.

Add these two facts together and many potential customers are worried that the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series could set them back around $100, especially as some big upcoming releases have already been priced at $80.
The discussion about GTA VI’s potential price tag has been the talk of r/GTA and one fan recently took to it to ask if people will actually be willing to splash out $100.
“Are y’all really willing to pay $100 for GTA6?” User Lycaon125 asked recently.
“So, we all know about the Twitter post saying the game industry people are hoping for a $100 price tag for a Standard Edition.

Then I see people saying they would and others that they would rather pirate the game then spend a three-digit price tag…
“So what I'm asking is this: are y'all going to pay the $100 and doom every other community to paying $100 for their future games?”
It was not long before the comments came flooding in with fellow fans sharing their thoughts on the biggest GTA VI related concern.
“I don’t even pay $60-$70 now.

Not having FOMO means I have no problem waiting for 60%+ sales,” the top comment by user Gladion20 read.
However, user LokahiBuz thinks differently.
“HELL YES,” they shared.
“The only game worth that much.

The budget and time spent... a DECADE! Yeah, $100 out of my pocket and I’ll pay more for the Collector's Edition.”
Hopefully Grand Theft Auto VI won’t cost $100 but if it does, it seems as though fans will be divided on whether they will be spending that much upon its release.
