GTA 6's ending has already been spoiled, fans agree

The undercover theory is gaining traction

Rockstar has barely scratched the surface when it comes to unveiling Grand Theft Auto VI’s plot, yet fans already think they’ve worked out the game’s big twist.

GTA VI will centre around Jason and Lucia, a Bonnie and Clyde-esque duo; that much is obvious.

Well, the official synopsis reads as follows: “Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.”

Additionally, we can gather from GTA VI’s second trailer that Lucia will start off the game in prison, with Jason picking her up following her release some time after.

Beyond this though, there are a ton of question marks.

Fans are convinced, however, that the plot will culminate in either Jason or Lucia actually being an undercover cop.

You can watch the game’s second trailer below.

You’ve got to admit, it makes a lot of sense.

There’s got to be something late in the game that causes a major hurdle for our on-the-run duo.

Betrayal feels like the obvious bet, so you can see why many are predicting the undercover cop route.

The most obvious contender is Jason as Lucia is, as I said, in prison when the game begins.

The common theory is that while investigating Lucia and her criminal ties, Jason may have fallen for her, leaving his law-abiding life behind.

Reddit user KhaoticLizard is of the belief that Lucia is the cop instead, or is at least working with the cops.

Their theory is that Lucia is released early from prison on the premise that she acts as an informant on Jason with Lucia eventually handing him over to the cops.

Of course, Rockstar could go down a completely different narrative route but this is all rather convincing.

If one of them is undercover, I like that it really could go either way so as to still keep us guessing.

Knowing Rockstar though, they’ll have something totally unexpected awaiting us.

“I honestly think their stories can go either way. It will be up to the player and their choices.

Which one will be canon? I don't know. It's a little tricky since there's only two playable characters and if it's an either/or situation,” wrote Reddit user WebisticsCEO.

Others questioned how Jason/Lucia could be undercover if they’re killing a ton of people, including cops.

That doesn’t rule the theory out though because, as I alluded to, Jason could’ve begun his relationship with Lucia as an undercover cop before committing to a life of crime because he truly fell in love.

If the truth of the beginning of their relationship ever came to light, you can see how Lucia still would feel betrayed.

I would say perhaps we should all stop speculating and just await the ride but with 12 months still to go, that’s just not going to happen is it?
