GTA VI being delayed to next year is a sad development, but it could have an interesting trade-off in the form of a GTA IV remaster.
Despite not being as technically impressive as GTA V, my personal favourite Grand Theft Auto game will always be GTA IV.
You never know though, GTA VI could take the top spot when it comes out next year.
That’s not just because it was one of the first GTA games I played either; I love the characters, the Liberty City setting, and I think it has some of the most entertaining physics in the series.

A remaster has been on the cards for a while, especially since the release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.
Now it seems like the long-awaited GTA IV remaster is closer than ever, close enough to taste it, as according to insiders, it’s primed for release this year.
The report comes from renowned GTA leaker Tez, who claims his sources tell him that a new version of GTA IV has been planned for a while and with GTA VI being delayed, Rockstar Games is finally thinking of giving it to us this year.
Take it with a pinch of salt, of course, as it could be wishful thinking, but given the disappointment from the GTA VI delay, it could be a good way of saving face with the fans.

It’d also add another major remaster to 2025’s release schedule, as we’ve already had The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, and there are those rumours of a remaster of Fallout 3 as well…
Personally, I’d love to see GTA IV get a re-release, as while the original version holds up gameplay-wise, it could definitely do with a fresh coat of paint.
Liberty City with a slightly more colourful art style and more detailed environments would be a godsend, as long as it keeps the atmosphere intact.
