Elder Scrolls: Oblivion players horrified to learn they've been picking locks wrong

How did the remaster introduce MORE exploits?

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered players have just discovered a way to absolutely trivialise lockpicking, and all it takes is five minutes of your time and a few hundred button presses.

Bethesda’s decision to keep 99% of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion’s bugs and exploits intact for the remastered version of the game is probably one of my favourite things about it, but it does come with one rather funny downside (or upside, depending on who you ask).

As the remastered version of the game made a few little changes and added some new stuff here and there, there are a bunch of new exploits and bugs … which technically means that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered actually somehow has more bugs than the original release of the game.

Take a look at the game in action below.

One of these new exploits comes in the form of a lockpicking bug, as one user over on the r/oblivion subreddit found that spamming the “Set Tumbler” prompt after already having locked in the first tumbler will actually continuously level your lockpicking skill.

This means, as many of the commenters pointed out, that you can easily get up to 100 Lockpicking in roughly 10 minutes.

“I just figured this out today myself in the same spot. At skill level 100 now and level 13 because of it lol,” commented user Cadowyn.

“You don't even need to lock one in if it's lower than very hard. Pick any empty tumbler spot and spam away lol,” replied user BALTHRUL.

Apparently this was in the original game, but not to the same degree. You could still spam the prompt to level Lockpicking, but it was nowhere near as fast as this.

I honestly hope they never fix this. The buggier this game is, the funnier it is to me. I hope the next patch notes just read, “Added more bugs”.
