Rockstar recently released an update for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, but it appears that support for the remastered trilogy isn’t stopping there.

It’s fair to say Rockstar’s remasters of the original 3D GTA games were not received particularly well when they were originally released three years ago.

Players were disappointed with the seeming lack of polish and the number of bugs introduced in these new re-releases, and they didn’t see a reason to play them over the originals.

Fans had diminished hopes for a proper fix to the games until Rockstar released a patch last week addressing the biggest complaints. In particular, the games now look much closer to their original counterparts.

And not only that, but it appears more updates for the trilogy are coming soon.

As spotted on the official Rockstar support page and shared by users on X, Rockstar developers wrote that they’re “aware of this issue and are currently investigating a solution”, confirming another patch is being considered.

On X, GTA fans are expressing what issues they hope could be addressed in future patches. One user wrote, “I hope this is true and that we will see consistent updates from VGD fixing all the remaining issues up”.

Another user wrote “Nice, hopefully we see it actually become the ‘Definitive’ Edition”

As for why Rockstar has suddenly started pooling resources into the GTA Trilogy, fans have speculated this could hint that development on GTA 6 is coming to a close.

As X user TitleTalkTCL wrote, “There's a line of thinking floating around out there right now that GTA 6 is 97% finished and Rockstar has now shifted to the build up goodwill, restore stock prices in the next year during lead up/build up to GTA6 and it would make sense to start off by rectifying their biggest misstep in company history”.

A timeframe for the next update coming to the Definitive Editions is not confirmed yet, but SteamDB reveals that the packages for each game in the trilogy have received updates in the last week, so it may not be far off.
