Grand Theft Auto VI is finally landing later this year but while you wait, there’s a free expansion to Grand Theft Auto V’s single-player mode to dominate your time.
One of Rockstar Games’ biggest fumbles with GTA V was its lack of single-player story expansions.
It felt like there were more tales to tell involving Franklin, Michael and Trevor and while all three protagonists did return in various GTA: Online updates, it wasn’t the grand reunion many gamers were hoping for.
Fear not though because if GTA: Online simply wasn’t your cup of tea, you’ll soon be able to experience a wealth of new content, all in the single-player portion of your game.
Coming soon to GTA V is a brand-new modding tool that aims to be a vast improvement over what we’ve seen in the past.

One of the key selling points of PC gaming is mods as while they can lead some goofy crossovers like CJ from GTA: San Andreas in Elden Ring, they’re also your gateway to new experiences in your favourite games.
RPFKit is the next innovation in this toolkit and sounds like it’ll surpass the previously used OpenIV with an array of new, modernised features.
Videotech helped tease the project on X saying RPFKit hopes to be a full replacement for OpenIV, and will bring “a world editor, the ability to edit files, models viewer, all in one package”.
With this toolkit you’ll be able to shape Los Santos however you see fit, though if you’re not tech-savvy enough for that, you’ll be able to experience other players’ creations through newly released mods.
We’re sure it won’t be long before someone recreates GTA VI’s map in GTA V, especially when you consider the PC port for GTA VI won’t launch until months after the console release.
GTA BOOM replied to the above post with admiration for the new toolkit, saying: “This is amazing news for the single-player modding community. OpenIV has been carrying GTA V modding since 2017, having a modern alternative is long overdue.”
F1X The M0NEY also replied to say, “The day we can crack open the GTA VI game files will be the greatest day ever.”

GTA V is still as fun now as the day it first launched but its player count is obviously going to take a massive hit when the new game comes out.
PC players will unfortunately have to wait longer than console players but many are hoping Rockstar Games is going to make it worth their while.
While Rockstar strictly prohibits mods in GTA: Online, it’s been much more supportive of mods in the single-player mode, even going as far as partnering with creators to make official mod conversion tools.
Making this support a day-one aspect of the GTA VI PC port feels like a no-brainer but until Rockstar actually addresses said port, we’re unfortunately none the wiser.
