Grand Theft Auto VI launches on 19 November 2026 but what about that pesky PC port? We finally have an answer.
It feels like the entire world is waiting with baited breath for the release of GTA VI. Even non-gamers know the game is coming and there’s been plenty of talk about a mass exodus from workplaces on the week of its release.
Plenty of gamers have also been looking for alternatives to play prior to launch day, like Samson which turned out to not be the fix/competitor many were hoping for.
While the console gamers have a date to look forward to though PC users aren’t so fortunate.
Advert
The release date for GTA VI’s PC port has long been a mystery for years now, but Rockstar developers have been surprisingly chatty as of late and that’s all changed.
DetectiveSeeds on X apparently reached out to several ex-Rockstar devs who’d worked on GTA VI prior to leaving the company.
They reported back with the following, “Grand Theft Auto VI is aiming to release the PC version in February 2027. All stated this timeline could shift, but Take-Two and Rockstar wanted to get the game out before the end of fiscal year. I reached out to over 90 people, Three answered me.”
Take it with a pinch of salt, of course, because DetectiveSeeds rightfully points out this could change.
GTA VI could get a last-minute delay again for all we know which would have a knock-on effect for the PC port as well.
The reasoning does make a lot of sense though. Rockstar and Take-Two will both want to maximise profits as we all know GTA VI is going to make millions in just its first couple weeks of release.
With that in mind it adds up why the companies would want the PC version released sooner rather than later.

Whether the PC version will be superior to the console versions though is another question entirely.
PC users will likely benefit from better performance provided their hardware is good and there’ll also be access to mods, though you won’t be able to take these into the new version of GTA Online.

With consoles like the PlayStation 5 Pro on the market though the real difference will likely be minimal, meaning Sony’s enhanced console will be the ideal way to play to get the most out of the game in the shortest time possible. You don’t want to get hit with spoilers.
