Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has one of the most iconic video game locations of all time, and now you can annihilate it with kamehamehas.
For the longest time, it’s been a bit of a running joke amongst the gaming community to mod the GTA: San Andreas protagonist CJ into various games. We’ve seen him in God of War, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, and we’ll probably see him in Grand Theft Auto VI once the PC port has launched.
Modder mastaklo has gone a step beyond, modding the entire map of San Andreas into the earth-shattering fighting game Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero.
The 3D arena fighter currently boasts over 200 playable characters, and an upcoming update will add over 30 more.

On their YouTube page, mastaklo shared a video of the mod in action, with the Saiyan Bardock fighting the villainous Frieza on Grove Street; right on poor CJ’s doorstep.
Battles can also take place out in the mountains by Mount Chiliad and near the military base in Blaine County.

While all of these locations returned in Grand Theft Auto V, the mod presents them as they were in the original game, so you can get a lovely, warm feeling of nostalgia as you pummel your opponent through a building.
Unfortunately, those who’d like to try this mod out for themselves will have to submit to a paywall. Not an expensive one by any means, but it’ll probably be enough to deter most players, as most mods tend to be free. Still, it’s fun to see in action.
Other mods in mastaklo’s collection take inspiration from other classic video games, like one modelled after a Super Mario Kart battle zone.
As we mentioned earlier, official support for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is continuing this month, though don’t expect any Grand Theft Auto collaborations, of course.
The next expansion is titled Super Limit-Breaking Neo and will add a total of 33 characters to the game.
These new additions range from the original Dragon Ball manga/anime, to deep-cut characters found in Dragon Ball Z, and some more recent additions to the cast from the latest Dragon Ball Super anime/films.
New costumes will also be added for select characters, and they’re more than just cosmetic options. They also alter some of the movesets with brand-new Ultimate moves inspired by fan-favourite moments from the franchise.
All of that, plus a new game mode, will be coming to the game on July 30, though no price has been attached at the time of writing. Due to it being quite a hefty expansion, we’d speculate somewhere around $30, which could be a little steep for some players.
We won’t lie, 33 new characters to play as is definitely a tempting offer, but after watching mastaklo, we’d rather just have CJ and Big Smoke as playable characters…
