Crimson Moon, an upcoming action RPG from ProbablyMonsters, has confirmed its release date and pricing plans after previously being unveiled at PlayStation’s recent summer State of Play.
The reveal was very much a memorable one with Crimson Moon boasting the type of styling and gameplay that’ll surely appeal to FromSoftware fans, making up for the lack of a Bloodborne sequel.
While the title is classed as a AA game, ProbablyMonsters is a studio that strives to go toe-to-toe with AAA heavy-hitters - and it looks as if it'll do a pretty good job at that with the exceptionally presented Crimson Moon.
After previously narrowing the launch window down to September, it’s now been revealed that Crimson Moon will arrive on September 1 so there’s not too long to wait.

Despite having been revealed at a State of Play, Crimson Moon is a cross-platform release so will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Perhaps most importantly in today’s economy, it’ll command a very reasonable price tag.

Crimson Moon is being hailed as “this fall’s best value for a hellish action RPG”
Crimson Moon will charge $19.99 / £17.49 for its base edition or $29.99 / £25.99 for its deluxe edition which includes additional cosmetic items and access to “post-launch content” further down the line.
I’m imagining that post-launch DLC will be available to purchase separately if you decide to go with the cheaper edition for now.
As for those deluxe cosmetics, players of the pricier edition will nab the Ceremonial Armor Set and the Axe of the Gods weapon cosmetic.
Crimson Moon sees players step into the shoes of a Nephilim, a human-angel hybrid that anyone who, like me, grew up reading Cassandra Clare’s Shadowhunter Chronicles will know all about.
The player will wield supernatural powers, fighting alone or alongside a friend, to see off demonic threats in a melee focused experience.
“The city of Gildenarch has fallen. Once a holy jewel, it is overrun by demons, undead, vampires, and Hellgrowth abominations. Humanity's last hope is the Order of the Crimson Moon, and its most feared weapon is you,” begins the synopsis.

“Embody a Nephilim, a human-angel hybrid forged to defend the world from Hell. Master supernatural powers, weapons, melée combat, and angelic transformations to fight through brutal missions and survive boss encounters with the Dead Gods.
“Whether you crusade alone or slay together in co-op, the prophecy is yours to fulfill.”
Crimson Moon seemingly takes on somewhat of a roguelike format, as it’s listed that you’ll “seek sanctuary between runs” with “every successful new run [presenting] new missions, modifiers, and skill achievements”.
In a press release, the game’s team referred to it as “this fall’s best value for a hellish action RPG”, and it’s not a sentiment you can really argue with.
“We’ve made Crimson Moon an intense action-adventure RPG that’s approachable to players. We want as many people as possible to enjoy it, and we priced it with that in mind," said ProbablyMonsters general manager and game director David Lesperance.
“With our gothic-inspired art design, co-op support, and epic metal soundtrack, we’ve made something truly unique for gamers to experience this September.”
September is a busy month for the video games industry as most releases attempt to steer well clear of GTA VI’s November 19 launch.
Crimson Moon will be joined in September by The Blood of Dawnwalker, Marvel’s Wolverine, Control Resonant, Silent Hill: Townfall, Valor Mortis, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Ace Combat 8, and Minecraft Dungeons II.
Its low price point, however, should help it get plenty of visibility.
