Grand Theft Auto VI is launching on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S this November, but where does that leave PC players?
The infamous GTA VI PC port has been a hot topic amongst the community as Rockstar Games is yet to officially acknowledge it.
When Grand Theft Auto V was released it took a few months for the first iteration of GTA: Online to follow.
Red Dead Online took less time but was still technically in beta, only becoming a standalone release months after Red Dead Redemption 2’s launch.

Many are expecting a similar story for GTA VI but fresh leaks point to the PC port not being of interest to Rockstar, which could have big implications for its eventual release…
Ex-Rockstar Games developers have confirmed a PC port is definitely in the works but it won’t be dropping until 2027.
The latest data, shared via CharlieIntel, supports this as sales figures for GTA: Online show a stark contrast between the console versions of the game and the PC version.
PlayStation 5 takes the lead with the most overall players and in turn the highest income, followed by the PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and finally PC.
That’s right, the Xbox One has more players playing GTA: Online than PC does.
The income from the PC port is also significantly lower than its console counterparts so it paints a pretty vivid picture of where Rockstar Games’ priorities are located right now.
Many argued upon the game’s official reveal that PlayStation, Xbox and PC players should all be able to play the game together from day one but looking at the figures it makes sense why Rockstar would prefer the console versions, they make more money.
That’s not to say the PC port is dead in the water but it’s obviously not going to see a 2026 launch unless a miracle happens.

Then when it eventually does launch many players are anticipating broken servers, irritating bugs and performance issues before patches iron out the big problems.
Altogether it’s hard for PC players to look at all of this and get excited, so for those who don’t own a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S it might be worth grabbing one solely to play GTA VI on.
