Grand Theft Auto V players can now experience a more immersive open world thanks to a free mod which expands the types of things you can do.
In the wait for Grand Theft Auto VI, many players are now revisiting Los Santos for one final playthrough before jetting off to Vice City in November.
Titled Open World Interiors, this new mod overhauls Grand Theft Auto V’s open world by adding interior locations for you to visit, as well as adding new activities for you to do in them.
Creator minkoff calls this “probably the biggest GTA 5 mod”, adding that the ambition is to make every single building in the game accessible. Alongside this, unique activities and minigames have also been added to give these locations a purpose.

The mod adds in new locations such as diners, fast food restaurants, hospitals, gyms, and nightclubs, each with their own associated activities for you to take part in.
For example, you can buy meals at the various restaurants and diners added with the mod, allowing you to choose your meal and whether you want to eat in or take it out. Meanwhile, nightclubs will allow you to take shots. If you want, you can also pull out a weapon and rob the joint.

Additionally, laundromats and restaurants also feature back areas with gangs conducting illegal operations, which you can rob as part of a smaller heist to take whatever they’ve got.
Gyms feature various equipment you can interact with, but don’t expect it to be like Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas where you can bulk up and increase stamina just by working out.
These locations feature NPCs carrying out their own lives, whether that’s eating food, dancing in the club, or working out at the gym. There aren’t many dynamic elements to them yet, though this could change in a future update.
Altogether, the mod adds 93 interiors for you to explore, and while these activities are still a little barebones, minkoff intends to keep it updated with new tweaks, features, and most importantly, more interiors for you to enter.
In the original release of Grand Theft Auto V, you couldn’t enter most building interiors aside from the player house due to memory limitations. On the Xbox 360 and PS3, it wasn’t viable to have every building be enterable.
Some interior locations are available to players during missions, but since these are usually just relegated to the mission they appear in, there isn’t much else there in terms of interactive elements.
All-in-all, this should drum up hype for Grand Theft Auto VI, which is rumoured to feature many more interiors and interactive elements to do in them than the previous game.
You can download the Open World Interiors mod for Grand Theft Auto V now from Nexus Mods.
