Yesterday, the latest free expansion-sized content update arrived for GTA Online, and it’s been slammed as the “worst update ever”
The latest major event arrived for GTA Online yesterday with ‘The Kortz Center Heist’, the last heist update of its kind since The Cayo Perico Heist in 2020. So, for all intents and purposes, it should be a long-awaited fun time for the online criminals of Los Santos, right?
Similar to The Cayo Perico Heist, players must work together in The Kortz Center Heist to perform the perfect break-and-enter shenanigans, this time stealing very valuable pieces of artwork. However, as we know, even the seemingly best laid plans can fall to the wayside. But, that’s all part of the fun in GTA Online.
So, what’s the issue that GTA Online players are having with The Kortz Center Heist? Well, some feel the rewards are way too grind-y compared to The Cayo Perico Heist, and as a result, some fear this might be the standard for the next iteration of GTA Online, after GTA VI finally arrives.

“Worst update EVER,” exclaimed Reddit user This-Software2436. “So new heist dropped, but it’s FULL of bugs, and APPARENTLY next painting after the preset one is worth a measly 400k. This is potentially the worst way to end a good game.”

“You know, when I saw all the possible loot in the scout mission, I was hyped. I thought, how cool, you can just empty it,” recalled Holdfast_Naval. “Only to find out you've got limited bags again and the pay is barely better than Cayo + slower to complete (unless you pay for the setups at the bottom, which costs you hefty profit). Damn shame.”
“I photographed so many paintings, and the secondary loot came to 1.17 million, and I was so excited,” added Toadrage. “I looted one painting, and it filled half my bag.”
“I was so hyped for this update, and it ended up being so frustrating, man... They wouldn't even bother to do the very least and add that hairstyle of the cover art lady,” said Longjumping_Split619.
“How can you nerf something that pays 500k and takes an hour to complete?” asked Kindagettingthere, to which ballknower871 replied, “Hour to set up, hour to replay, 650k for you, good sir.”
Unfortunately, only Rockstar Games can answer that question. The first assumption that comes to mind is that it’s the typical tactic of having the rewards feel less rewarding in the hope that it might push players towards making in-game purchases with the GTA Online Shark Cards.
Sadly, this isn't the first grind-y tactic of its kind and it certainly won't be the last, whether it’s related to Grand Theft Auto or any other video game property. Perhaps the best we can hope for is that Rockstar Games deploys a fix to make the rewards at least a little more... rewarding. Only time will tell if that will happen or not.
As for the next iteration of GTA Online, while it doesn't have a release date, it will most likely arrive after the launch of GTA VI on November 19, 2020, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
