The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is renowned for its glitches. It arguably wouldnât be a Bethesda game without them. This wedding glitch is without a doubt the funniest weâve seen though.
While youâll undoubtedly be able to do a lot more in The Elder Scrolls VI, you can do an awful lot in Skyrim.
You can become the Arch-Mage for the College of Winterhold or sacrifice unsuspecting victims to Daedric gods, but you can also get married.
One player by the name of u/Connect-Hope-4535 was receiving such a ceremony in Riften, only to have it rudely interrupted by an unexpected guest: an entire dragon.
How dragons appear during Skyrim weddings
When youâve found a suitable partner in Skyrim, you can take them to the Temple of Mara in Riften to seal the deal.

As most players will know, the game will automatically suck in nearby NPCs to be your witnesses, but what they might not know is that dragons are fair game too.
Should a dragon be attacking Riften at the time of your ceremony, thereâs a good chance itâll take a break from its destructive rampage and watch two star-crossed lovers join in holy matrimony; how lovely.
In u/Connect-Hope-4535âs case, it was a Frost Dragon. It was seen comically standing in the temple and even congratulated the player on their wedding. Its voice lines are ripped from other NPCs.
The post by u/Connect-Hope-4535 confirmed that no mods were used to make this happen. Itâs just something that can happen in the game if youâre lucky enough, or committed enoughâŚ
How Skyrim players can invite their own dragons to the wedding
As said before, Skyrim will pull anyone whoâs nearby to watch your wedding unfold. What you could do in theory is simply wait for a dragon to attack Riften and then initiate the wedding, but thereâs no telling how long youâll be waiting for such an encounter.
The other option is exploring near Riften and hoping you encounter a dragon. Thereâs a guaranteed dragon spawn just South of the town at Lost Tongue Overlook. It might be possible to lure it over and âinviteâ it that way.
Thereâs one final option I can think of, but I havenât verified whether it works or not. With the Call Dragon shout, you can summon a friendly dragon to your current position. Youâd usually do this if you need help in a fight, but I guess itâs also useful for when you need a plus one as well.
You could try summoning it for yourself and seeing if itâs close enough to join your ceremony.
For those who want to go a step further, there are actually mods that let you marry the dragons. Only for the freakiest of Dragonborns.
If dragons arenât in The Elder Scrolls VI, I think weâre all going to be a little bit sad. They were such a fun aspect of Skyrim and with the technology we have now, they have so much untapped potential.
