'God Of War' Fans Want Nick Offerman To Play Kratos In Live-Action

When Sony makes the inevitable live-action God Of War movie/TV series, who should play Kratos? It's a question that has been hotly debated by fans for years. Who can bring the gravitas and raw power required to breathe life into the PlayStation icon? Jason Momoa's name comes up a lot. Gerard Butler and Vin Diesel also get mentioned a ton. But let's think outside the box today, shall we?

One name I have never seen come up in discussions around Kratos casting before now is Nick Offerman. Best known as the stubborn Libertarian Ron Swanson in the excellent Parks & Recreation, Offerman is what you might call an unconventional choice. With that said, now that it's out there? I actually really, really want to see him as the Ghost Of Sparta.

The Offerman/Kratos comparisons first started when the actor/writer/comedian/carpenter shared a picture of himself on Twitter. As part of a light-hearted thread encouraging users to share what they'd look like as the leader a underground organisation, Offerman uploaded a selfie in which he boasts a beautiful bald head and a great big bushy beard. It wasn't long before fans of Offerman and God Of War started to connect the dots.

Brilliantly, God Of War director Cory Barlog even got in on the fun. Here's hoping this marks the start of a beautiful friendship between Offerman and Barlog that one day translates into a creative collaboration on a God Of War TV show. A man can dream, right?

To be honest, I think my favourite part of all this is that Offerman - who is not all that familiar with video games - is most likely scrolling through the replies to his picture right now and wondering who tf this Kratos guy is.
