Final Fantasy fans, you’d better put all plans aside next spring, as it looks like Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is going to be the biggest one in the trilogy yet.
We’re not just talking about the size of the map either, although our impressions of the game at Gamescom showed us just how massive the world of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation really is.
Instead, we’ve also had a big tease at just how deep the actual content contained within this map actually is.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation director Naoki Hamaguchi has revealed that the game could “easily take over a hundred hours” to beat if you’re a completionist.

As reported by GameSpot, Hamaguchi estimates that seeing everything the game has to offer could take you around 100 hours to do.
However, that’s a number reserved for players who strive to see everything a game has to offer. If you’re in it just for the main story and a little bit of side content, you’re likely going to be clearing it much faster.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation could take up to 100 hours to beat, and Hamaguchi says he's done it dozens of times

If that 100 hours number seemed a little daunting, Hamaguchi also revealed that he’s rolled credits on the game 46 times.
“I will try to do these playthroughs as much time as time allows,” Hamaguchi says. “Yesterday, during a separate round of interviews, when there was downtime, I actually did bring a PS5 controller, so I checked the latest version of the build. Even on business trips, if there’s even a small amount of time that I have available, I’ll try to check the latest version of the game to see if there are any issues.”
So, why the need for a massively long play time? Well, it has to do with the scope of the game up until this point.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is the third part of a trilogy remaking Final Fantasy 7, with this game adapting the remainder of the story from the Great Glacier chapter all the way through to the final stand against Sephiroth.
But one very important detail to keep in mind is that it’s at this point in the story that AVALANCHE get access to the Highwind, a massive airship which can take them pretty much anywhere on the planet.
As such, there’ll be plenty to do across each location you can visit on the map, with plenty of side quests, activities, and endgame content to experience, likely a lot more than what was in Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth.
According to How Long To Beat, Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s completionist times work out at an average of 86 hours, while Rebirth’s comes to 160 hours (it is a ludicrously large RPG).
So, it looks like Revelation could come somewhere between those, or might even go beyond that possible runtime. Considering Hamaguchi has also revealed that the game will possibly be around 200 GB to install, we're not counting on finishing it in a single weekend.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will be released on April 7, 2027 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
